ACORN wants its (your) money back

Chutzpa:
1. unmitigated effrontery or impudence; gall.
2. audacity; nerve.
File this under chutzpa in the dictionary.

ACORN has sued the federal government demanding that it give back taxpayer dollars to the corrupt agency that Congress voted to deny it earlier this year.

From POLITICO:
ACORN claims that the legislation was of "malicious and punitive intent." The suit also claims Congress violated the Fifth Amendment by skirting due process before doling out the punishment of the funding cut. OMB Director Peter Orszag and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner are listed as co-defendants in the suit.
This is what America has come to in the Age of Obama. Criminals are suing the government demanding that taxpayers continue to fund their corrupt ways.

16 Million Dead People Registered To Vote

Aristotle International, a leading non-partisan provider of political technology and data, has released its annual "Deadwood" voter registration compilation, showing 16,331,707, or 8.9%, of all registered voters are no longer among the living but still eligible to vote.

This would help explain some of the current elected officials we have.

Aristotle International says the number of voters on its "Deadwood" rolls is up 3 percent over the estimate released in October 2008.

Way to go ACORN!

"Deadwood on voter rolls complicates the electoral process and can cause problems like fraud and vote miscounts. It always creates a perception of low voter turnout," said John Aristotle Phillips, CEO of Aristotle. "It gets down to this: by depressing turnout, dead voters make the rest of us look bad."

Lawmakers Call on States to Defund ACORN

PA GOP: Pennsylvania's Democrat House of Hypocrisy

Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason released the following statement in response to a press release sent out by Democrat members of the state House of Representatives touting their letter to Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation that called for an investigation into the activities of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN:
"Democrats in the state House have taken hypocrisy to a new and dangerous level," Gleason said. "Just weeks after voting to support state funding for ACORN, Democrat state Reps. Tony DeLuca, Dom Costa and Bryan Barbin are now publicly calling on Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation to investigate this corrupt organization. This letter was no doubt a measure taken to calm down their constituents, who are upset that their elected officials voted to support a group that has clearly been misusing precious taxpayer resources.

"In these troubled economic times, when everyone is working to stretch our dollars as far as we can, the public deserves to know that the Democrat Party is willing to knowingly send our tax dollars to this corrupt organization. The recent videos depicting ACORN counseling people involved in criminal activities is deplorable. It is mind-boggling to me that, even with mounting video evidence piling up against this corrupt organization, every Democrat member of the state House still voted to send precious taxpayer dollars to fund the activities of this corrupt organization."

"ACORN has been exposed as a corrupt organization that should not be receiving federal or state funds under any circumstances."

Gerlach seeks audit of ACORN

U.S. Rep. Jim Gerlach is one of 28 members of Congress who signed a letter sent to the Inspector General of the Housing and Urban Development asking for a review of how the liberal activist group ACORN used taxpayer funds.

Gerlach (PA-6th District) wants HUD officials to make sure ACORN is held accountable for every dollar of taxpayer funding it has received, according to a press release issued Monday.

From Gerlach's press release:
In a letter to HUD Inspector General Kenneth M. Donohue, Gerlach requested a comprehensive audit of ACORN's finances to give the public some peace of mind that their hard-earned tax dollars have not subsidized corrupt or illegal activity.

"In the wake of new, but not unfamiliar, reports of criminal and illicit activity involving ACORN, I believe it is imperative that this organization’s finances be reviewed and investigated by your Department to determine whether improper and illegal use of federal dollars has occurred since ACORN first began receiving federal funds in 1994," Gerlach wrote.

The letter signed by 26 Republican members of the House Financial Services Committee and GOP Congressmen Mike Pence of Indiana and Pete Sessions of Texas.

Video of ACORN employees in New York and Maryland giving illegal advice to two filmmakers posing as a prostitute and a pimp prompted the U.S. Census Bureau to end its partnership with ACORN on Friday. The Senate voted 83-7 on Monday to cut off Housing and Urban Development funding slated for ACORN.

ACORN – which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now -- has been the focus of voter-registration fraud investigations in recent years.

Locally, two ACORN workers in March 2008 pleaded guilty in Berks County Court and were sentenced to jail for creating phony voter-registration forms in order to collect cash from the organization, according to the Reading Eagle.

In July, Dauphin County election officials have investigated over 100 suspicious voter-registration applications submitted by ACORN

And In September 2006, nearly 100 fraudulent voter registration applications were filed in Delaware County, prompting the District Attorney’s Office to issue an identity theft alert. All 100 applications were filled out by four individuals working for ACORN.

PA GOP blasts Sen. Casey for 'blind support' of ACORN

Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason is pleased that the U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly to deny federal housing funds to the controversial left-wing advocacy group ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now).

However, Gleason questioned U.S. Senator Bob Casey Jr.'s decision to join six of his colleagues in support of ACORN funding.

"Sen. Bob Casey's blind support of this corrupt organization is questionable at best," Gleason said. "ACORN continues to be exposed as a corrupt organization that should not be receiving federal funds under any circumstance. The recent videos depicting ACORN on a number of occasions giving out advice on how to cheat and lie on your taxes were appalling and further confirmed my suspicions about this questionable organization.

"With all things we have learned about ACORN, I cannot understand how Senator Casey could support ACORN. Sen. Casey owes it to our Commonwealth and his constituents to explain his vote."

On Monday, the U.S. Senate voted 83-7 vote in favor of an amendment that stripped out funding to ACORN in a housing and transportation bill. ("Senate Denies ACORN Funding," Politico, 9/14/09, http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/27153.html)

Casey, a freshman Democrat, was one of the seven votes against the amendment. ACORN is under investigation in nine states for allegations of voter registration fraud.

PA GOP: Sen. Bob Casey has some explaining to do over support of ACORN

In light of continuing scandals involving the far-left advocacy group ACORN, the U.S. Senate voted 83-7 to deny federal funding to the troubled organization.

Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania inexplicably was one of the seven Senators to vote against the Senate resolution, cementing his reputation as a puppet of liberal extremists.

Republican Party of Pennsylvania Chairman Rob Gleason issued a statement saying he was pleased that the U.S. Senate voted overwhelmingly to deny federal housing funds to The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, ACORN. However, Gleason questioned U.S. Sen. Bob Casey's decision to join six of his colleagues in support of ACORN funding.

Will ACORN conduct 2010 Census?

House Republican Leader John Boehner today issued the following statement on the public hearing of Robert Groves to be the Director of the Census before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs:
The Census is a constitutional exercise that is fundamental to our democracy and must not be influenced by partisan politics. I appreciate Mr. Groves' opening comments and his responses to direct questions to commit, under oath, that statistical sampling and statistical adjustment will not be a part of the 2010 Census nor will such practices be a part of the 2020 Census. However, our concerns about the Census potentially being tainted by political influence remain, and if Mr. Groves is confirmed, I look forward to regular reports from him to illustrate that the Census is free of partisan interference and manipulation.

I am also greatly concerned that the Census would enter into a national partnership with ACORN, an organization rife with internal corruption and that was responsible for multiple instances of vote fraud in the 2008 presidential election. Asking an organization like ACORN to help recruit the 1.4 million temporary workers that will go door-to-door is akin to inviting the fox into the henhouse. Corrupt organizations like ACORN should have no part in this process and, if Mr. Groves is confirmed, he should sever all ties between the Census and ACORN and its affiliated organizations.

ACORN scandal in Pennsylvania

The mainstream media covered up that fact that the Obama administration funneled millions of dollars into ACORN as part of the February "stimulus" bill. Is it payback for helping Obama win last November's election despite widespread allegations of voter fraud on the part of the left-wing activist group? To borrow a phrase from Obama's former spiritual leader, the chickens are coming home to roost.

From an article by Walter F. Roche Jr. in The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:
A worker for a grassroots organization was so eager to fulfill a voter registration quota during the presidential campaign that she filed a fraudulent application in the name of a county elections employee, but got the Social Security number wrong, prosecutors said Thursday.

In all, seven canvassers for ACORN in Allegheny County are accused of forging 51 signatures and violating election laws in connection with last year's registration efforts, said District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr.

Zappala said a six-month investigation by county police and the Pittsburgh FBI office found clear evidence of an illegal quota system in use by ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. The investigation continues, and the arrests mark the end of only one phase, he said.

"We're comfortable from the evidence that we can show there was a quota system," Zappala said. "These people all had an association with ACORN."

Obama's nutty plans for 2010 Census

The Obama Administration is turning to ACORN, the radical group responsible for injecting voter fraud into the 2008 election, to help out with conducting the 2010 Census.

What can possibly go wrong?

Plenty, according to Pennsylvania Republican Party Chairman Rob Gleason, who issued the following statement:
"ACORN's actions last year certainly did little to earn the public's trust and I am sure that most Americans are concerned about this group's ability to deliver an accurate count," Gleason said. "News first broke that the President wanted to move the U.S. census into the White House, now he is enlisting the help of ACORN, a group that is widely believed to be consistently breaking the law. President Obama is trying to interject politics into the 2010 U.S. census, hoping to increase the reach of his Party throughout the country. It will be tough to trust ACORN's counts or any data they submit.

"With the economy in decline it is sad to see that the President is so concerned about the 2010 census. I also find it even more troubling that the Census Bureau wouldn't be willing to offer these jobs to the many hard-working men and women already looking for a job, rather than do political favors for groups that helped elect our current president."

Ex-ACORN worker pleads guilty

A suburban-Philadelphia man hired by the controversial pro-Obama group ACORN has pleaded guilty to forgery, identity theft and tampering with public records charges involving bogus voter registrations.

From The Delaware County Daily Times:
The charges were filed against 34-year-old Jemar Barksdale as a result of invalid voter registration applications he submitted, according to the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office.

Barksdale, who entered the plea before Common Pleas Judge Patricia H. Jenkins, was sentenced to serve six to 23 months on electronic home monitoring, to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, perform eight hours of community service, to pay court costs and restitution in the amount of $574 to the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN).

Back in October, county District Attorney G. Michael Green said Barksdale had provided 18 fraudulent and 22 completely fictitious voter registration applications to the county voter registration office.

Krista Holub, ACORN Political Operations in Philadelphia, said in a prepared release that ACORN is satisfied with the outcome of the case. Barksdale was an employee for eight days, from late May through early June.

"PA ACORN hired over 1,300 employees across the state and are proud of our hard working canvassers who helped neighbors and friends register to vote."

ACORN goes on the offensive

What do you do when law enforcement officials in 14 states are investigating your group for voter registration fraud? Go on the attack, of course, and claim that it's a vast right-wing conspiracy.

The nuts over at ACORN, which has made voter registration fraud an art, are holding screening parties for a new "documentary" about voter suppression.

ACORN is holding house parties in 17 cities around the country, including Philadelphia, to screen its propaganda film.

I guess ACORN would like to take voters' minds off the Nov. 4 election long enough to get Barack Obama elected.

From an ACORN press release:
Recently the McCain-Palin campaign, the Republican party and some sensationalist members of the media, have been on a weeks-long campaign to discredit ACORN over bogus allegations of "voter fraud." This video examines both the skewed media attention and the real story of ACORN's voter registration program. It also aggressively calls attention to the ongoing campaign of suppression, which affects far more voters than anything recently covered by the mainstream media.
ACORN still hasn't come up with an explanation of how it registered Mickey Mouse to vote in Florida or signed up a 7-year-old voter or turned in paperwork for an Ohio man who registered 72 times.

And why won't those pesky FBI agents leave ACORN alone? And that $800,000 Barack Obama gave to ACORN earlier this year has nothing to do with voter registration fraud, either.
